I'm moving to Louisville this Thursday. My company is relocating me and I will be working in Clarksville. What's the commute like these days with only one bridge up and running across the Ohio?

Terrible. We're counting the minutes until the Sherman-Minton is fixed.

Your reverse commute probably won't be quite as bad as those who live in Indiana and work in Louisville. Bridge traffic has varied widely - some days it's not a big deal, some days it's a nightmare and my coworkers from Indiana are hours late.

But you shouldn't have to deal with it for long. March 1 is the deadline for the Sherman Minton to reopen, and it may even be sooner than that.

Bridge Repairs Ahead of Schedule - Newsroom - Inside INdiana Business with Gerry Dick
Good news everyone!

Also BackinHenderson i would recommend living on the Indiana side of the Ohio River if your going to be working in Clarksville to avoid a pain in the rear commute.

I did the commute from Louisville into Indiana for a while with the bridge closed. It really wasn't an issue at all, absolutely no change in commute going in that direction. The Sherman-Minton should be open soon and will solve some of the issues in the other direction. However, they may have to close the I-65 bridge for short periods to do re-paving and repairs once the other bridge is open. I don't know anything about this for sure, but it's in rough shape.

Don't worry. Travel will not be an issue once the new east end bridge is complete. Just come live here and plant some trees. You'll be able to cut them for lumber (20-50 years) to use in the bridge building process.
