My family and I are considering moving to Louisville if this job offer comes through.
I need some imput of the area. Schools, Housing, shopping, medical, culture, etc.
Can anyone give me some input please.
Thank you
A Floridian that wants out of Florida.

Neither my wife or I are shoppers, but based on listening to my clients and other Realtors, Louisville has a very good cross section of shopping. It's not Michigan Ave, Fifth Ave, Rodeo Drive, or the Mall of America, but there are at least four excellent malls and several upper echelon modern suburban centers.
Medically, you will not find a better medical center than Louisville Kentucky. From the first artificial hearts to the first successful hand transplants to now almost routine open heart surgeries, Louisville has made significant contributions to medicine. There is an excellent emergency medical system anchored by a world class trauma center.
Culture, Louisville itself has one of the largest active Roman Catholic populations in the US. It is home to one of America's largest independent Christian churches, and many thriving denominations of nearly every religion. There are two major denominational seminaries, and many highly regarded universities and career training colleges. You will find a city orchestra (darn good), ballet, the highly regarded Speed Art Museum, and several more from the Patton Military to the International History Center, plus the Louisville Slugger (baseball) and of course, the Derby Museum. Oh, yes, there is a wonderful theatrical scene too.
Jefferson County Public Schools are in absolute chaos, but the parochial and private schools are doing excellent work. School systems in the adjoining counties are doing a decent, if not superior job. Oldham County Schools are ranked at the top of nearly every ranking.
As for fun, of course there's the Derby, plus another 100 days of live Thoroughbred Racing and the Derby Festival is two weeks of spring fling started by the largest annual fireworks show anywhere. All summer, there is excellent pro baseball, arena football, and many many festivals and exhibitions at one of the worlds best, if not almost largest convention centers. The University of Louisville plays top level in many of America's top collegiate sports. Trinity and St. Xavier High Schools play in one of America's best attended football games. And there is the Ohio River and plenty of lakes and resorts within a couple hours drive.
Transportation is unequalled in my opinion. Louisville International sends packages all around the world every day, and has the best prices to almost any major destination within the States. Cincinnati (75 min), Indianapolis (2 hr), St. Louis (4hr), and Nashville (3hr) all provide top level international passenger destinations.
So, do come to Louisville, just don't plan on sending your children to JCPS

I note that you didn't give the % of Louisville. Kentucky is a Baptist state with a heavy dose of Methodists & Presbyterians, Disciples of Christ, Church of Christ, Assembly of God, Pentecostal, etc.

Yes she did -- it's 16.6%. She highlighted it in blue.

yes, I see that she did in the second post. I responded prior to that post. My patience or lack thereof occasionally sticks my foot into my mouth... After I get it out, I'll eat some crow... btw... am I the only person who has accepted this incorrect information as fact just because its been repeated so often?

I got this off of
AskACatholic.com - Catholic Population in the USA and to me 16.6% is not a huge amount, is it? I keep hearing how huge the catholic population is. Then again I am not sure how accurate that site is either. According to wikipedia it's 15% in the state in 2003. The other said 9.7% but that was 2006. I wonder which is right?
