All we need is your vote. You can make a difference.
2012 VANS CUSTOM CULTURE VOTING
Vote for Eastern in the Southeast Region.
(Please vote from your cell phone or home computer as well. Most school computers count as 1 vote for an entire school.)

Hi ,
I want to start by thanking everyone for their support last year. All of the community support and kind words meant a lot to my students, our school, and me. We could not have gotten to New York last year without your support. Being lucky enough to be national runner-ups the past two years, has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my teaching career. I have had the honor of getting to watch my students challenge themselves as artist and learn that with hard work and determination comes success and endless possibilities. We would greatly appreciate your continued support. $50,000 would make a huge difference to our art department.
This year we spotlighted Kentucky with a shoe design about the Kentucky Derby.

Thanks you,
Mrs. Hamilton-Cooper
Art and Photography Teacher at Eastern High School

Below is a Press Release About the Contest
Help Kentucky art students put their best feet forward
Several JCPS students are near the final stretch in a national competition, and you can help them move closer to the finish line.
For the third year in a row, Eastern High students are semifinalists in the national Vans Custom Culture Contest, a competition that requires students to customize four pairs of sneakers. Each must represent one of four themes—action sports, music, art, or local flavor. (The shoes shown above reflect the music theme.)
The competition is now accepting votes from the public to determine which students from each of five regions will receive a trip to Los Angeles for the final judging, which will include surprise celebrity judges. The winning students will receive $50,000 for their school’s art program. The four other student groups will each receive $4,000.
“We’ve been a national runner up for the past two years, and I’m hoping that the third time is the charm,” says Eastern art teacher Trish Hamilton-Cooper.
Visit 2012 VANS CUSTOM CULTURE VOTING (http://www.vans.com/customculture/vote/4/ - broken link) to see all of Eastern’s designs and place your vote. You do not have to register with the site, and the contest allows one vote per IP address, which means you can vote on each of your Internet-connected devices (desktop computer, laptop, phone, and/or tablet). Voting ends on Thurs., May 3.h in a national competition, and you can help them move closer to the finish line.
