My wife wishes to have our new son at home how ever we are having a hard time finding a mid wife to be there for us. We are doing a home birth because even with our insurance we can't afford to have the baby in the hospital. Please point us in the right way to find a mid wife

It is my understanding that midwives are not allowed in KY. My boss's wife had to go to Southern IN to give birth for that reason.Good luck and God Bless!!!

From what I understand, it is illegal to practice midwifery in KY without a license. And KY does not issue licences for midwives. Therefore, there is no legal way to be a practicing midwife in KY.

That said, there are still many midwives in KY. Some of them work in groups with OB/GYN's that are "officially" the doctors in charge of the midwife's cases. Others work on their own and do homebirths, etc.
