So out of curiosity - which city did you decide on?

Gosh where to begin? There are so many good spots you could eat at a different locally owned high quality spot every day of the year. What are your tastes? What neighborhoods you looking at?

Peter, I'm hoping to find a place in or near the Baxter, Bardstown, Eastern triangle, so we'll hopefully start our campaign there followed by an outward spiraling blitzkrieg of mastication and libations. I brought this up mostly to hear you guys talk about your favorite places, no so much for my benefit. Why do you like the restaurants you like?

One objective question I will ask, though: Can I get a good schnitzel in Schnitzelburg?

my favorite place to eat in germantown is eiderdown. I would call it maybe "german fusion" for lack of a better term. there are over 1500 restaurants in louisville metro, so it's kinda hard to cover the dining scene here. wiltshire on market has and continues to be about my favorite. the silver dollar on frankfort ave is another.

The only place to go in gemantown is Checks Cafe! Try the chili and ask for Big Bill at the bar. One of the nicest and funniest guys youll ever meet.

Places to eat:

The Blind Pig (gastro pub) - our personal fave for lunch. Get the Ivory Bacon!
Hammerheads (gastro pub)
Eiderdown (german fushion)
Ramsi's (food from all over)
Kashmir (Indian)
Havana Rumba (Cuban)
Marks Feed Store (great for kids)
The Bristol (American)
Vietnam Kitchen
Sunergos (coffee)
Quills (coffee)
Please and Thank you (coffee/breakfast)
Wild Eggs (breakfast)
Meat (cocktails)
Queen of Sheba (Ethiopian)
Decca (French - date worthy)
Hillbilly Tea (Appalachian)

Um, I'll stop there. Louisville will always be our (Me, hubs, and 2 year old boy) favorite place to eat!

Check out the new Menu and Hours app for most of Louisville's local restaurant menus. It's seriously helpful!

Don't miss Lynn's Paradise Cafe - quirky to the extreme, with good, reasonably priced dishes.

Not a fan of Lynn's...for breakfast there are lots of places that have far surpassed it IMO. I am thinking of Wild Eggs, Toast, Verbena Cafe, even Highland Morning and Blue Dog Bakery of course.

While Lynn's is certainly surpassed for food quality of the others, it's still a place you must visit if only for the atmosphere!
