I travel to Louisville quite a bit and am thinking of getting a bike to tool around town on while Im visiting.

I usually stay with family down in Valley Station and plan on doing backroad & errand riding there, but ALSO plan on putting the bike on the TARC bus and going into the city for some urban riding (Lousiville seems just the right size for getting round on bike to my favorite spots in town)..a bike that could work as a city/utility bike.

So Id be looking for a bike that I could use for city//utility riding but also is good for some light road riding..say out Blevins Gap Road in the Jeff Memorial Forest or out to the levee trail along th river.

Also looking for a place that has frames or bikes for taller folks (Im 6'-5")

Im not interested in mountain bikes with upteen million gears or racing bikes with those skinny tires.

So any recommendation for a place that perhaps specializes in utility bikes or maybe general purpose bikes. I know there are a number of bike shops in town, so would like to narrow down the search.

Dayton, there are tons of bike shops in the Ville. I like these guys because they have shops all over the metro, even in "developing areas"

Bike Depot - Louisville Kentucky

These guys are very well known experts:

Bicycle Store & Shop | Bardstwon Road Bicycle Co. | Bike Sales, Rental, Repair & Maintenance

This place is pretty cool and some of the older bikes may be more accomodating given your size:

Specializing in vintage road bike restoration! | vicsclassicbikes.com

Should you want to stay in the south end, keeping it local, I heard the Schwinn shop on Dixie is ok:

Dixie Schwinn Cyclery Bicycle Shop

These guys are newer, and really are fueling the bike culture in the Highlands:

Parkside Bikes

There are many more options, but there is a start.

Local Bicycling Organizations - LouisvilleKy.gov

I go to Middletown Cycling & Fitness Bike Shop. The guys over there really know their stuff and offer the best prices (Believe me, I've been to all the shops in town)
