I've heard rumors on TV that Ashely Judd is considering running against Mitch McConnell. Is there any truth to this?

SO?

At this point in her life, like the comedian Senator from Minnesota, Ms. Judd has no evidence of public service to show her qualifications. I would hate for Kentucky, the home of so many great American legislators such as Henry Clay and Alben Barkley to elect a star rather than a "got down and dirty laborer" as it's representative.

Default actors and politics

Good grief, the darling historical figure of the Republican Party, Ronald Reagan, didn't have any political experience either.

Of course, he increased Federal deficit by 50% during his tenure in office.

Whether liberal or conservative, Republican or Democrat, we need good, PROFESSIONAL politicians just like we have right now <sarcasm>. With the exception of second term Presidents, they are ALWAYS looking toward the next election!

I think she would probably be an interesting choice.
She has always been a Politically involved citizen, standing up for issues that she believes in.
America is the government of the people, by the people, and for the people
and just regular people can be just as good, effective as Professional Politicians. Often better.

While it's true that Ashley Judd has never held public office, she has been very active in causes important to Kentucky, notably opposition to mountaintop removal coal mining because of the severe enviromental damage it creates. She is also active in children's issues, both in this country and in the developing world.

Ms Judd has deep family roots in Kentucky, grew up here, and remains committed to our state. Unfortunately, some will continue to view her as merely a pretty-faced actress rather than a very intelligent, well-educated, well-informed, articulate, honest, straightforward, conscientious and committed individual.

Few of those adjectives can be accurately applied to the present office-holder, unfortunately.

Oh, you obviously don't know your history. Ronald Reagan was quite accomplished prior to becoming president. He was a Democrat and President of the highly political Screen Actors Guild, then he became Governor of California, and did California very well.

Ashley hasn't said she was going to run. Somebody started the rumor mill by saying she would be a good one to beat McConnell. As far as I'm concerned, I'd vote for the local dogcatcher instead of Mitch!
