I live in an apartment a block east of there at Crescent and Brownsboro. It's fine. We love the neighborhood, actually.

Some of the apartments farther west and on the north side of Brownsboro, from Hite down towards Kroger, might not be the nicest, but the Birchwood area is very nice.

The neighborhoods are beautiful in the Brownsboro Rd/Frankfort ave area. I'm not too familiar with apartments in that region of Louisville, but the neighborhoods usually consist of older homes. You are pretty much near everything: between downtown Louisville, Bardstown Rd. and the St. Matthews Mall. Frankfort Ave is know for having a funky vibe with locally owned and operated arts and craft stores as well as some of the best restaurants in Louisville. This area is nestled near cherokee park and seneca park. I love this area.

I love clifton/crescent hill. there are a few apartments around the kroger on lower brownsboro that are all section eight and not all that desireable. I would look into renting an apt in some of the many older homes in the area as opposed to a complex.

Heh. I live on N Bayly, a street over basically from Brownsboro/Birchwood. It's pretty quiet and nice. Like it was mentioned, down closer to the Brownsboro/Mellwood area can be a little less pretty, but when you get all the way up to Birchwood, I think everything is pretty good to go.
