Hi, my son has a stamp collection album that belonged to his late wife and I am trying to find a decent collector that would appraise his collection. I am leery of going to just a pawn shop type of a place. I don't have anything against pawn shops, but I am hoping someone could give me a couple of suggestions. Thank you!

Linda

A google search produced this:

Metro Louisville Stamp Society

I would email them and see what they say. I have seen some shops but cannot recall where they are. I know there is a coin collector's shop downtown on 3rd st (the numismatic? exchange). You may call them and pick their brains.

Also found this

Collector's Stamps Ltd on Dupont Cir in Louisville, KY - 502-897-9045 | Coin and Stamp Dealers CMac.ws

Collector's Stamps Limited

I am guessing these folks could direct you to the other places. I believe there are 2 more.

I know back in the 1960-70's that they were numerous of places that sold stamps and even appraised. They were in downtown Louisville around the 4th Street area. I don't know if they exist, but I recall one on Broadway around 4th, or maybe it was around 3rd & Broadway. Being that many places have closed and moved elsewhere or went out of business, they may not exist. Thinking about it now as I type, why not call a coin shop and perhaps they can direct you or know of someone since it is somewhat in their field of selling and appraising. Good Luck.
