Hey everyone!

So, it's time to move on. We've been in our not-so-great-but-cheap Old Louisville apartment for about 3 years. Location was great so I could walk to UofL to finish my undergrad. Now that graduation has passed by and we've talked ourselves out of an out-of-state move for at least 2 years, we're yearning for some new scenery in Louisville. So, I want to open this thread up to opinions on where we should go next: the Highlands/Bardstown Road area or the Downtown/Waterfront area. We like both but I wondered about some other people's experiences. If you have any suggestions on specific places, by all means post it up! Thanks everyone!

The waterfront is beautiful, a high-up condo looking out over the river would be fabulous-- but the Bardstown road area leaves you lots of options for spontaneous, anything . . .
No car needed, anything you want just a few blocks away. I like them both, but just for the sake of convenience and choices, I say the Highlands. I am shamelessly biased though

Depends, are you buying or renting?

The new Waterside at RiverPark Place is enticing!

Renting, at least for a year or two. I saw the Waterside, it was beautiful.

We would prefer downtown (I think, depends when you ask me) but Bardstown is tempting because I hate driving if I don't have to. That's why we're stuck between the two areas.

the highlands offers more amenities at a cheaper price, imo.

Are you thinking actual downtown or a nearby area like Phoenix Hill / Butchertown? PH is a lot more desirable area since Clarksdale Public Housing was razed and replaced with a mixed income public / private resident community. That area in general seems to be the fastest rising in the city.
