Hi,
Visiting Louisville in the next few weeks and know nothing about the town. Would like some info on nice areas of town to hang out in, unusual eclectic restaurants and shops, museums, book stores, etc. Any ideas would greatly be appreciated. Thanks

I’d say the Kentucky Derby museum and the Louisville Slugger museum for sure. That’s our local claim-to-fame. Plus, Churchill Downs is still open through Thanksgiving weekend, I think.

For something completely different, Lynn’s Paradise Café.

Everyone seems to love Carmichael Bookstore but I have to say I'm not a fan. To me, the best part of Carmichaels is that it's next door to Ramsis Cafe.

Caveat: I'm talking about the one on Bardstown Road. In all fairness, the Carmichael's on Taylorsville Road is larger.

Good ideas Off Topic,

Are there any art museums or galleries?
Any other unusual shops or stores?
Is there one particular area where things like this are concentrated?
Any events going on in December?

Thanks

You hit that right on the head. If he's looking for eclectic or unusual, we should just tell him to start at one end of Bardstown Road and walk to the other end!

As to other museums, how could I forget:

Muhammad Ali Center - Muhammad Ali

Speed Art Museum

Welcome to the Frazier Museum

All excellent and a little different from the run-of-the-mill.

Just about everything is here:
