Hi folks,

So my move to L. is in a few weeks and I need a good real estate agent. I looked at other threads but it seems the most recent was from 2011 (could be that my search scope was too limited).

So I would like an updated list of good agents or even a confirmation that those listed a few years ago are still operating in the area.

Thanks for your input.

Bliss

I am not moving back to Louisville yet but any questions I have wanted to know about the market I asked Tom Cox. He is a Realtor and owner broker of a Remax office in Louisville. He knows the city very well and can help you find what you need. I will let him know to PM you and see if he can help you. Good Luck and you will love Louisville. When my contact is up in the military I look forward to moving back.

Tom does know the whole city but really emphasizes east burbs. Bliss needs an urban based realtor. I like Mya Neubauer for this. She also knows downtown portland and butchertown well, which is its own zone

I'm not sure of the price range and I know there is a movement of artists finding affordable housing in Portland but it's cheap but not the greatest neighborhood. Downtown also takes a certain person wanting a certain life style. Unless you personally know bliss and what price range and type of neighborhood they are looking for then Portland, and downtown are not the greatest or most sought after areas. I personally have a house in cloverleaf but I would prefer to move to Highlands or Cherokee Triangle which are still urban but much nicer areas to raise a family.

Peter does bring up a good point that depending what your looking for and price range some agents might be better experts. I just know Tom Cox has been very knowledgeable with ever question I have asked about homes and areas in Louisville.

Peter, once again for your knowledge, my firm operates three offices. It would be against federal law for me to emphasize any part of Louisville or Southern Indiana as it could be construed as steering. Our firm operates three offices (two more coming) and we have agents living in West Point, Pleasure Ridge Park, Edmonton, New Albany, Highlands, J-town, Crestwood, LaGrange, and Lyndon areas of the Louisville Metro area.

I am planning on establishing myself in the Portland area. Don't get me wrong. Having a house in the Highlands would be sweet in terms of amenities and foliage (old trees), but my goals make me want to be on the ground floor of the effort to revitalize that area. Beside I am more enclined to resonate with the artist types that the burbs.

Can't argue this in anyway. Portland could very well be the next revival.

Portland does have some beautiful houses at great prices and I hear they are making a rebound with alot of artist buying there. Who knows if you buy when it's cheap and in 5 to 10 years it might be the next Highlands. I think along those lines with Old Louisville but just not sure my wife would be on board worried about the kids.

My child is all grown up and moving to England so I am free to carve out my own little world as I see fit. Which can be daunting and exhilarating but I am very happy to be getting an opportunity to start exploring the South. Louisville will be a good base for that.
