Very nice area and close to a ton of local dining options in the Highlands. Also very safe... but pricey too, though there could be some good bargains too

Mitch McConnell lives in that area. I think he has the money to live anywhere

That's pretty much right in the heart of one of the most frequently suggested neighborhoods in the city. It's a good mix of people, leaning a little bit toward the younger and less conservative side. Lots of restaurants, local places, and 'hip'. It doesn't really fit what you wanted at all, but I think your wife will love it and it's a perfect location for you to rent because you'll have pretty easy access to a lot of the city from there

There are nice houses in your price range on Iroquois Park in a little neighborhood few folks know about--i.e. Turquoise Dr. Friendly, close to town and anywhere you want to go in the county, large homes.

not really. The area around Taylor Blvd has some issues near Churchill. However Iroquois is mostly very safe. Historically, living on that park had the same prestige as living on Cherokee, its just that Cherokee became the yuppie gentrified area. Iroquois park and environs is a safe, upper middle class area!

Iroquois Park is one of my favorite Louisville Parks. Some of the homes there are really nice.

The bad area extends pretty far south of I P. There was a large public housing unit off Taylor Blvd just south of I-264 that was recently tore down that had lots of shootings and murders and helped drive the whole areas into the crapper. Berry Blvd, 7th St Rd north of I-264, etc are all really bad areas. I would not even consider living north of Iroquois HS... that said the area improves rapidly from the park to the south. Crime in places like Auburndale or along Southern Pky near the park wouldn't be worse than in St Matthews. I've been around this city since 2002 and it doesn't seem like crime is spreading south, situation seems stable.

Ok thanks, we're still gathering as much info as we can. When we come to Ky for a visit to visit my family, we'll come over to Louisville for 2 - 3 days and drive around adn check things out, speak to realtors etc...

I'll be asking about different areas from time to time, appreciate the insight
