Im thinking about coming to the louisville area to live.Im from New Jersey and Im not concerned with arts or so called " progressiveness "..I am socially and politically conservative. I want to leave NJ because of the overbearing cost of living. From property tax, insurances, home prices etc... The people here are dangerous drivers and there is no respect for anyones safety. They run you over if you step off the curb and wont even stop to help you fix a flat tire or even ask if you need help...in short, there animals..in a dog eat dog world. Also the state Government is extremely liberal and the state is now nothing short of socialist..I want to move to an area outside of town where it is " country". I want the slow pace and to be in a place where our precious 2nd amendment is respected. Where hunting and fishing is not considered the equivalent of animal abuse as it is here in NJ.Truth is I cant stand the North east liberal mentality and I hope you all hang on and cherish that slow, country spirit..I want to know if I work hard and smart as a contractor if I can make ends meet.I do have a strong work ethic and work primarily in moderate to upscale homes as a proffessional painter. I thought of being across the river in Harrison county near Corydon or south of the city in the Shephardsville area.I am single and not so worried about schools.Just want to be around nice people. Will they dislike me? Since pretty much everyone hates NJ people I am worried I will be labeled a " yankee " out in the country and get picked on or even assaulted. I do plan to grow my business in the better louisville area neighborhoods..would appreciate feedback thank You

Have you looked into rural Idaho?

Seriously, I don't think you'll be happy in the Jefferson County area. However, if you do decide to move here, please give us some warning!

I'm not so sure why people are being so hard on the OP? Did he say something offensive or come off the wrong way? Am I missing something here?

Talking off topic ??

Now I know why you are called " off topic " The only warning I will need is to know where you live so I dont end up next door !! Are you trying to say that anyone who enjoys more open space , who likes to hunt and fish etc is a bad person ? I am truely surprised at such narrow thinking.I thought you " progressives " were supposed to be open minded and accepting...Please,I would appreciate just positive feedback, not insults from people who are prejudice and hateful of those that dont live or think there way...thank you

Narrow thinking???????
Don't you see how you came on this forum with so much negative innuendo, or even blatant put-downs of people "that don't live or think" YOUR way?
Progressives, United Nations, PETA, liberals, etc.......... c'mon!

It hardly inspires friendliness.

Does it inspire friendliness when people tell me to move to Fort Knox so I can get a better attitude or comment on how I am unfriendly..I just wanted feedback from people who understand and think like me. Not continued insults from you that dont. I didnt come on hear to argue. I dont have to like liberalism or anything that goes along with it as I have seen its destruction in my own home state...I dont tell you or anyone how to think or feel or live your lives.Just leave me alone. If you dont have something positive to give as a suggestion or answer just leave me alone. I didnt start these insults and put downs.I dont believe there is any progress in " progressivism" and I am entitled to that opinion.I didnt personally attack anyone as is being done to me...Please again Positive feedback or just move on and insult someone else !!
