I'll be driving through Louisville this coming Thursday morning southbound on I-65. Are there any construction issues I should be aware of? In particular I'm concerned about the John F. Kennedy Memorial Bridge.

Thanks in advance for any tips.

Yes, there are major construction issues in the area of the bridge. There are major lean reductions on the Indiana side that will be in effect for about two years. Elsewhere there are various Lane shifts to do the construction. If you're coming through between 7 AM and 10 AM or 3 PM and 6 PM you might be smarter to avoid the area completely. You could take 265 W in Indiana to 64 to 264 and finally back to 65 on the south side of Louisville. It might take you as long but you would certainly avoid a lot of frustration!

Unfortunately coming around to the Sherman Minton will probably not be any better. A lot of people already do that and traffic is consistently backed up on I-265 from I-64 all the way around to Charlestown Rd or further

Hmm, doesn't sound good. My destination is Chattanooga. Perhaps I'd be better to go the long way (via Cincinnati/Lexington/Knoxville)? It's 47 miles longer, but perhaps with fewer traffic issues.

Depends on time of day. Kennedy Bridge (I-65) is bad during afternoon rush hour, especially south bound (as it has 2 fewer lanes). If you're coming through on a weekend it should be no problem. During rush hour you can follow ALT 65 signs and go around I-264 W to I-64 W cross the Sherman Minton Bridge and take Indiana's I-265
