I know this forum is for Jefferson county but I really need to know of some good family lawyers that handle divorce, custody etc, in Oldham County. Also that would be reasonably priced and offer a free consultation. I appreciate any advice! Thanks!

Jennifer

If you and your soon to be ex significant other can sit down and work out your divorce, including visitation, child support, splitting savings, etc, you don't need a lawyer. My wife and her ex worked everything out themselves, plus my stepson and his ex did the same thing. You can get paper work you need from the county clerk's office and all it will cost you will be the filing fee. Last time she heard it was $75.

I guess I should have explained better. We have been divorced for 3.5 years. My kids are with my ex husband right now and I have child support being taken out of my checks by the department of revenue in Florida. This is because he is coast guard. Our case is still down there even though we have lived here for 6 months now. He got stationed in louisville. To make it more complicated my ex has decided to keep his residency in Florida. I had a free consultation with one lawyer who basically said it would be very expensive to get the case transferred here. The child support would be lower in KY than FL. I am just struggling because I cant afford to pay as much child support and have my own place. I have a roommate . This makes it harder to see my kids. But my ex wont budge. Hes set on keeping the case in Florida...... I need to get it up here somehow. So Im looking for a lawyer who actually wants to help me..........

I only know family lawyers in bullitt county and Louisville, not Oldham. If you have joint custody but you are paying child support, you got a bad deal.
