Hey guys im about to graduate school and have a couple interviews lined up next week in Louisville, if I get offered a position I will more than likely be moving up there.

Is a housing budget of around $800 (rent + utilities) feasible for the St Matthews area? I'd be looking for a 1/1 and it doesn't matter if its a professionally run apartment complex or by a private party. I can spend more money if needed, but I do not need anything too fancy (I wouldn't mind an older complex if it meant saving more money as long as everything works) A safe area/complex is a must though.

800 is enough for a pretty nice place pretty much anywhere you want to live

Most expensive one bedroom apts in this area - I'm 4 miles east of St M -would be in that range. You could go a lot cheaper than that if you want something more basic.

That is pretty welcoming news, any suggested complexes?

St Matthews itself has a lot of traffic and is seems crowded. I live just a couple miles from StM out Lagrange Rd and like the area. It's 5/10 minutes from the mall but is quieter. There are lots of apartment complexes off Lagrange Rd and Westport Rd. I've only live in one and looked at another. I think all would be safe. Prices very a ton, down the street is an older 2 bedroom that is only $550. Go half a mile away and it's $800 for a 1 br that's brand new

The St. M area is nice, but congested. In terms on being safe in Louisville, the East End areas are safe. The West End of Louisville is where a majority of the city's crime occurs.

Which part of town would your potential job be in? This would help suggest areas which meet your criteria and are close to your job. Although Louisville isn't a huge city, traffic can be bad at times and a close location may end up saving you a lot of commuting time.
