We did see online a couple of homes for sale on Main St. in LaGrange but, unfortunately they are no longer on the market. Loved the look of downtown LaGrange...who knows maybe another will show up when we go for our visit!
So grateful for everyone's help and advice. Thanks.

After making 2 trips to Louisville we have a great fondness towards St. Matthews and Crescent Hill.
Any comments on these areas?

Cannot go wrong. Some of my favorite neighborhoods in the country...very fast appreciating and very low inventory. If you find a house you love, make an immediate offer. Frankfort Ave is a wonderfully cute, walkable area

The area is still "cheap" compared to the coasts. But be prepared to pay decent money for a totally renovated historic bungalow or Victorian. $200 per sq ft is not unusual. Make sure you get a good realtor. PM me for recs.

As mentioned, cannot go wrong. The only 'downside'(?) is that realty prices are exploding in Crescent Hill.
Over the past 5 years, they have gone up by a third, in some instances. Im not a big fan of St. Matthew's only due to it being a little further out, but Crescent Hill has some of the nicest real estate in the city and is highly walkable.
