U of L has announced plans to develop a huge 40+ acre plot adjacent to Old Louisville, extending from 7th Street Road to Lee Street, with several thousand new student apartments.

U of L also announced last week that bidding has began for the project to add new housing and restaurants along Floyd Street and Arther Street in South East Old Louisville

I have noticed reading the crime reports in the CJ that crime seems WAY down in Old Louisville, and the entire 40208 zip code as a whole. I haven't seen even a car break-in reported this month.
