Where should a group of young (21-24) girls go for dinner before a big night out? We generally don't do chain restaurants, and will begin our night at a house in the Highlands area.

How many are you? Price range? Taste? Time? There are many, many, many options in Highlands, Frankfort Ave, downtown...

You really need to join the forum at LouisvilleHotBytes.com and ask them. There is a huge foodie community in Louisville, and that is where they play online. That said, you really need to be way more specific on price and type of cuisine, as well as atmosphere. Where are you coming from and are you meeting with locals? The Highlands alone is flat loaded with top notch eatieries. The "go to" place for your age group is probably Sapporo (sushi), which can have long waits on weekends. I am more partial to Avalon or Seviche, but those may (or not) be out of your price range. Palermo Viejo is great Argentinian food and just a sweet atmosphere. And Asiatique is a beautiful lounge setting from a James Beard House Chef, and it serves a small menu until 2 am on the weekends. I really love the decor and feel of Asiatique the best. A very lively restaurant on a great bar stripin the Highlands is Jack Fry's Restaurant - Louisville Kentucky. If anything it represents Louisville dining quite well, and the dining room is always abuzz and glowing with energy. Hop over to Molly Malone's or O'sheas for some pints after dinner.

If you are searching for very high end or ethnic, Louisville has every category of those too. If you are in town for a few days, this hotel and its restaurant downtown (Proof) is not to be missed. A great spot for upscale cocktails as well:

Although cheesy, the largest collection of nightclubs is here: Fourth Street Live! It can be fun on Saturdays when it gets very crowded around midnight, though.

If it is more laid back or artsy vibe places you seek, try these:

You might try Ramsi's. Very eclectic menu, casual, funky and affordable. Not a wild and crazy bar, if that's what you are looking for.

That area is Restaurant Row, so you shouldn't have much trouble finding a great place.

If you are into sushi... Sapporos is a fun eccentric place to eat. A little pricey , but great food!!!
