Hello everyone,

I'm a woman in my early sixties, semi-retired, and planning to relocate to Louisville where I have dear friends.

I'd like to rent a house with a fenced yard for my dog, but money restricts my choices. I hope you'all can advise me in my search for a safe neighborhood that I can afford ($550 - $600 for a house), where I can walk my dog.

I see small shotguns advertised on Craig's List and rentalhouses.com that are in my price range, but I have no way of knowing if the surrounding blocks are safe.

What advice do you have for a workingclass woman who's community minded? Thanks SO much for your help!

We're always talking about the Bardstown Road area, for good reason. You might want to check out the thread about the couple moving from Manhattan.

Thumbs up Aren't they great?

Those who answer on this Louisville board are really the best!

You CAN tell something of the vibe of a city by who is bothering to answer and how they answer. On some of the other boards for other cities, the vibe is bad, really bad. They are hostile and stuff. Not to mention any specific cities, but I was appalled by how UNwelcoming some of the people are on some of the boards, they are like, "Oh, you're poor? Then DON'T COME HERE!!!" and they aren't doing that to be nice!!! And all they talk about is how great it was where they moved from, not how great THEIR city is.

The Louisville people are proud of Louisville w/o being sickly sweet about it!

On this board, they are welcoming. Please check the answers I got on my thread, I think it's I'm in Love with Louisville, for lots more info. The Louisville folks, they are HELPFUL not HATEFUL.
