I am looking for a home in the Louisville area. I have already ruled out southern Indiana. I like the Highlands but I am having trouble finding a home to suit our needs. So now I am looking in the Prospect area. I am looking for a good school district for my 14 year old, a quiet street for my 2 year old, a larger lot for my 4 dogs(the mastiff and the newfoundland were left with us by my wonderful son) and hopefully a first floor laundry for me because I am no spring chicken anymore.

How large a house are you wanting and for what price?

If you area wanting a large lot in the city the Crescent Hill area or south of Iroquois Park might be your best bet.

we started looking at the 200,000-300,000$ price range. 2000+ sq feet. is what we are looking for. we have since bumped it up from 250,000-375000 range. we found out that the best school districts are in Oldham county area near prospect, and anchorage area. And that iruqois park has very low resale value.

I used to live near Anchorage - it is almost entirely made up of huge houses with 2-5 acre yards that go for $500,000 to $1 million+. Oldham County would probably be your best bet.

Finding a home that meets your needs in Oldham County should not be too hard as there are many for sale out here in a broad range of values. We have good dog laws and great public schools. But even so, there are many more questions to answer first. Such as your work, how long of a commute you are comfortable with, etc. As of 10pm Sunday March 16, there are 40 homes priced between $200,000 & $300,000with 4 or more bedrooms and a lot of one or more acres.

I have been looking online and have found two subdivisions which I could get into; Moser Farms and Briar Hill Estates. Any info on these two would be great
.

I live in Briar Hill, and only 2 miles to Moser Farms. I think the biggest difference in the two is a four-letter word. While Briar Hill is a fantastic place to raise a kid, that four-letter word pops up when discussions occur about Moser Farms. It's a tough call, but you know when raising kids, four-letter words are a parent's toughest retraining challenge. So if you want to raise good kids, Briar Hill works fine, but if you don't mind the word "golf", then Moser will be best.
