Could you possibly be thinking of Li'l Abner's at that location that closed about 1968 and was the later site of Jim Porter's? It was a restaurant based on the cartoon series by Al Capp and featured a hillbilly themed motif. There is a chapter about this restaurant in the book "Lost Restaurants of Louisville" by Stephen Hacker and Michelle Turner.
