I just started working for Metro Gov to create a detailed page about every Louisville neighborhood, suburban city, and CDP. Right now it's in the brainstorming stage, so I thought it would be great to ask Louisville residents on this forum what they would want out of such a page.

Here are some of the early suggestions...
- concise, 1-2 page history/ description of the neighborhood
- 2-5 pictures of each neighborhood
- a list and map of all neighborhood associations
- a map of the neighborhood
- a layer map of any Historic Districts, fire and police protection, & school districts

Can you think of anything else this site would need?

Great idea! I would want to know a smattering of the kinds of services that are close, i.e., restaurants, super markets, pharmacy, hospital, how close to the freeways, etc.

How about where city services begin and end like garbage pickup? Or where the TARC stops are?

Well, to me that depends on your goal - are you trying to do an upbeat rosy highlight of the best or most unique features of the area, or a practical, honest, nitty-gritty overview, perhaps for perspective buyer?

Personally, I would like a website that had true, nitty-gritty details, but I'm assuming that the city would prefer to focus more on positives for each area? In that case, perhaps a list of popular local eateries, shopping, etc, in that area whether it be local mom and pops or chains. Also, any unique history, folklore, etc for that area, as well as any festivals, park areas, etc.

Events, events, events! For those of us who live across the river- I am constantly looking for events that we can come into Louisville to attend. OH- and things to do with your pets! :-D

More of a factual view. I showed Melissa Mershon all my work editing Louisville neighborhood pages on Wikipedia & she said that it read too much like a brochure or story for the type of page she wants to create

census--it seems to me that you are just the person for this job!

Me: When I move to a neighborhood, I look for the things you mentioned, but I also want nitty-gritty facts like crime stats, schools' performance, average income, average educational attainment, the "feel" of the neighborhood kinda like the USPO classifies neighborhoods as according to zip codes in the Washington DC postal museum (which was a surprisingly interesting place, if you haven't been). I don't know how much of that you can do legally, but that's what I look for.

i always enjoy reading about the future growth prospects of neighborhoods: what's going on now, how is the population setting up for the future, what are the newest housing neighborhoods that were built, what could make the city/neighborhood more viable. future prospects always interest me.

oh yeah, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE seeing population trends!

Well not knowing the area myself I had a peep at the Metro Mapper (Is this what you have devised?) and I thought it was extremely informative, especially the crime stats and pinpointer - wish we had something like that over here. One thing that shocked me was that known sex offenders living in the areas are named and shamed - slightly(!!!!) different to over here but I suppose useful to know for safety's sake. So if you are the person responsible for this site you have certainly done a good job. Very informative and easy to use. Have a look ahttp://www.upmystreet.com for the uk version.

I think people who commit violent crimes deserve top be shamed, when you do the crime you should lose rights to privacy and they do... as long as they are over 18.
