I made the mistake of moving here October 2019 and can't wait until I'm financially able to leave. I'm hoping to save others from doing the same. The problem with Louisville is the people. While I have met a few who are truly good people, it is rare and the good ones aren't usually from here. This place is filled with the rudest people I've ever seen! They will bump you in a store and not say a word. It seems like saying excuse me, thank you, you're welcome etc. is a foreign concept. This is everyday, not just once in a while or a few people. I mean literally 90% of the people I encounter daily! Most are also greedy and self centered. If you didn't go to high school here (this is the first introductory question asked) you will be looked at like you're from mars. People can not drive which is why car insurance cost is beyond outrageous. No one seems to have basic common sense at all either. There are potholes everywhere when you drive which is crazy since they get ridiculous amounts in taxes. They should use at least a little to fill in the tire swallowing holes. Rental homes/apartments are ruled by slum lords (side of black mold anyone?) and rent prices are quickly rising. No where is safe here. Even the "nice" neighborhoods are seeing murder and theft. Cost of living is a joke. I see things online about a low cost of living and I truly have to laugh! Bottom line,I've lived in different states and cities and even in another country and I've never been stuck in a worse place than Louisville. Please do a lot of research before you make your move and consider another place.

Where in a Louisville are you hanging out? I go to a Louisville all the time, the people I encounter in the stores and restaurants are friendly, especially for a metro area. I have yet to encounter anyone who cared what high school I went to, although admittedly I have run into some who cared a lot about where they went to high school - which does kind of bust me up. Most of the areas of a Louisville are very safe, even areas that are considered borderline sketchy. Like any metro area, there are areas that are best to avoid after dark but I’ve never worried about my safety there.

Look, sometimes people aren’t a good fit for a particular city or area. I despised living in California - the people and I didn’t mesh, I hated LA with a passion, the smog was awful, and I was thrilled to see it in my rear view mirror. However, that doesn’t mean it was a bad place and clearly lots and lots of people enjoy living there. Isn’t it great we all like different things? That way we aren’t all trying to live the same place.

Louisville is the prefect city for some, clearly not you. That’s okay.

Are you down town Louisville or does your observation include some of the suburbs?
