Then there is general crime such as increasing petty crime. Assaults are higher, theft is now higher, property crimes (damage) are higher, traffic infractions are higher, shoplifting is higher, slower police responses are increasing, the list goes on. When the bad people in Louisville see less police and less effects on their crime, they will INCREASE crime.

Most friends have moved from the city to either the far East Jefferson county or Shelby county. It’s a mad dash towards Lexington. Crime is #1 reason.
Because you aren't. I agree I am the first to say Fischer is a clown. Most on metro council are worse, especially Jecorey Arthur, a practicing black panther and racist on record hating white people.

What I am saying is that you got a better chance of dying from a car accident in rural KY than being a homicide victim in Louisville.

It's a FACT. And most the homicides in east, and even Highlands? They are black gang members. Please, check the social media accounts of those shot! Look at the gang signs. Looking at the maps, 85% of the homicides are in the same areas of the West End, and a couple small south end pockets.

Now, does this make it ok? Absolutely not. But moving away and spreading all this vitriol online about a city of 700k is NOT gonna help. It's preposterous. Quit acting scared. You live in a city. Be aware. Crime is EVERYWHERE and its a national issue.

Quit acting like you are walking down the streets in the Highlands and its a war zone with bullets flying. It's really really laughable. Moderator cut: off topic

I suggest all of you, if so upset, get active in your council district and call your council person. Vote them out if not.

Couple things. Agree the statistics on rural roads vs being shot in Louisville (assuming one isn’t in a gang). Small percentages similar to kids dying from covid.

First, the thread title and topic is “homicides in Louisville”. So it’s expected that posts would discuss the ins and outs of homicides in Louisville. Other threads such as “best place to live” or “where is best bbq”, should not focus on homicides. That’s why there are thousands of different threads, even forums.

Second, on homicides, it’s unfortunate that times have changed and it’s worse for Louisville as a whole, when you must cross certain areas off your “visit list”. Family picnic at Shawnee? Ten years = yes. Now?

So as safe or safer areas decrease in Louisville and you ask realtors on why families are moving farther East, the answer is often crime in general. Remember the increasing murders bring increases in “lower crime”. So west end residents or downtown residents may not be shot, but their cars will be burglarized and they are more likely now to get assaulted or even yelled at on their walks. Walks that are now focused more on locations that are safe (daylight, high traffic areas, non-solo walks, etc.).

Anyone in real estate will tell you location is everything and if home owners feel like their communities are becoming more dangerous, they move. Telling them to wait for another mayor of the same political party, won’t stop or even slow their decision.

Now, where is the best bakery in Louisville?

It's really offensive that you assume anyone who is shot and killed, who isn't white, is a gang member.

Can you show the LMPD facts you keep referring to that says that the 159 homicides this year in Louisville, with the exception of the 5 people you cited earlier as innocent, are gang members?

Look at them. Look at the people shot regardless of race. Look at them on facebook and social media. Most all are flashing cash or gang signs. Most have guns using threatening gestures. I don't care what color you are....do that and you are in the street life. Please stop with all this race stuff. This has gotten us to where we are. You are race baiting now.

The news REALLY highlights the innocent ones. The only one I have heard of lately as in the news and hit by a stray and killed was the young man in the news recently off 264 and the Watterson. There's been a couple kids hit by stray bullets. That's one too many. One or two died. Sad, but this occurs in EVERY major city. I am not sure what part of this you are not getting? Louisville, by city population, is a top 30 city.

Getting killed by a stray bullet is nearly the same chance of getting rich off the lottery. Just stop please. I cannot take the hyperbole anymore. Are you one of these posting on the CJ about Louisville being Afghanistan? What a crock.

Thanks so much for your opinion, Peter. I disagree, but I'm glad everyone has an outlet here for their thoughts.

Default 2021 murder and crime stats are out

Louisville is in the top 20 but often Louisville got mentioned by name on some national news when they had a piece on crime. Memphis was #1 and Cincinnati was in the top 5.

It’s not straight numbers but per capita so it’s apples to apples.
