Did anyone make it out to Oldham County Day today? I enjoyed two stacks of pancakes, some bacon, and some OJ bright and early this morning! It is really neat to see the community come together for an event like this.

...that shouldn't necessarily qualify the county itself to have a high quality of life. so what is it? i guess there are a whole lot of definitions for quality of life depending on what one values.

As others have already pointed out Oldham County is not necessarily the best place to live for the single bar hopping shopaholic. However, It is a great place for a family that enjoys having a nice quiet place to call home. A place where the air is a little easier to breath, and the stars can still be seen at night. A place with sprawling landscapes, where the trees and grass hasn't been replaced by shopping malls and parking lots. A place where the deer, heron, raccoons, rabbits, wood chucks, chipmunks and other sorts of wildlife live in harmony with you and can be seen almost daily. A place where you not only know your neighbors name but you enjoy each others company for a barbecue. A place where everyone smiles and waves as you pass by.

I could go on and on....

Top all that off with award winning schools and easy access to almost anything you could ever need and you have about the closest thing to paradise that this world has to offer.

That's good to hear about the schools. Actually, everything that's being said sounds nice. Am I missing something, though? You are talking about the suburbs, right? The suburbs that are so far out to not even be annexed yet, right?

I am puzzled how anyone could be delusional enough to actually think that suburban sprawl is living in harmony with nature?
