The weird thing is that Louisville's population loss has been great for the University of Louisville.

U of L's campus used to surrounded by dozens of active factories, today U of L has probably more room to expand than any other urban university in the US since all the closed factory sites are now vacent and being bought by the school.

U of L has purchased 100 ACRES in the past two months and could easily purchase another 80 acres by next year. Even UK doesn't have that much room to expand, especialy since much of the original land grant is a public arboretum

The racial makeup of the city is 60.05% white, 35.22% black, 1.86% Asian, 0.24% Native American, and 2.95% 'Other'."

I don't usually play with the numbers, but this paragraph was just sitting here....... I come up with 100.32%. It just looks a little funny. Maybe my calculator is on the fritz.
Wikipedia is usually, but NEVER always reliable. I would check their sources. Be wary of an article with few or weak sources.

It should also be noted that home ownership has SLOWLY started to shift in Old Louisville from Multi-Use to Single family. I work for a downtown firm and it is very exciting that more and more of our new hires (young professionals) are seeking downtown and old Louisville addresses and their first choice. As more rentals are eliminated from the market, populations will decrease.
