Aww, awesome blast from the past!

Those were great! Actually, they still had one at Thelmal Lanes in Shively, up until about 1997/98--I haven't been there since sadly--but I was bowling on a league there at the time, and spotted it right after we'd finished up the first night--it was always located in 'the new section' (which ironically is not new anymore, not by about 25+ years! lol Still I will always call it the new section.....) . It cost $1 to play it, and the cartoon only runs about 3 minutes, I guess, but it was so great......it took me right back to my childhood! The screen was bad, the cartoon was grainy-fuzzy and the sound was poor but for a few minutes I was 6/7 again......

I doubt it's there now, but I'd love to see. And so I've just decided that when I'm back in Louisville in Oct, I'm going to have a look! I was practically raised Thelmal Lanes and Pro-Bowl in PRP (no longer there--last trip home it was a Bingo hall..... ).

Strangely enough, the sound and smell of a bowling alley is rather soothing to me......

Thanks. With some creative searching, I was able to find the exact model that was used at that Bacon's. I remember that strange looking Woody on there like it was yesterday. There is also a Youtube video of it near the bottom.

Bummer! Why'd they go and change it? I guess they got bought out by the strike & Spare folks.....

When I was little I always thought it was Thelma Lane's----as in a lady named Thelma Lane ran the joint..... (I was pretty young though...)

The Ehrler's Ice Cream on New Cut across from Iroquois Park. It's some kind of Vietnamese private gentleman's club now.

Yeah, Erhler's was awesome! I think now about the only places you can get Erhler's ice cream is at Louisville Slugger Field and the Ky State Fair--there used to be a Bread/pastrie shop on Dixie in Valley Station that sold Erhler's ice cream by the gallon--my mom was able to get Butter Pecan, her all time favourite. Have no idea if that bread/pastry shop is still there. It was next door to the St. Vincent de Pauls store when it was still in business.

Has anyone mentioned Fanelli's Ice Cream in Beuchel or the old Haywoods Dairy on Outer Loop? And that there used to be a full service gas station ( with free air and advice ) on just about every other corner?

I think I did earlier, but believe me, it's worth more than one mention! We drove more than 30 minutes just to get there.
