I am considering your area for a relocation ( rural area close to Elizabethtown actually) and I wanted to hear the average persons feelings about the local economy. My interest is mainly in new construction; residential, but building is so interconnected with all business that any thoughts would be useful. Are small businesses hanging on okay, do you see alot of closings. So on and so forth. Thanks in advance for your time

I don't personally see it as bad. Kentucky didn't experience the housing crises alot of other places did.

The Elizabethtown area is also probably a great area for new construction. With the 7000 soldiers plus their families that are coming to fort knox, new construction will bound to keep growing. It already is as a matter of fact.

The brac realignment will place thousands of new dwelling units on site within the next couple of years! Lots of work for carpenters indeed!

Elizabethtown/Louisville and surrounding areas are going to be boosted by BRAC. Not only are soliders coming but a number of civilian jobs are coming as well and some of these DC folks have some serious $$$. A number of DC folks have already bought property in the area. Elizabethtown is preparing as we speak for our arrival and most of us cant wait to get there.
