We were planning on visiting the Lewisville area Wednesday or Thursday of this week. However, I then remembered the Derby is 5/2. Is the area extremely crowded, even outside of the Lewisville area? Do you think we'd be better off to put our trip off until next week? Any input appreciated.

First off, it is Louisville. Second, the area is crowded, but it is fun. Come down. Where are you coming from? Will you need a hotel? If so, you will have to wait or pay alot.

Sorry for my mis-spelling; have had so much going on here. We would be coming from S.E. Ohio which we hope to leave very soon. We are basically coming there to check out areas such as Smithfield, etc., but we would need a hotel for one night. We won't be making it to the Derby. Do you know how crowded outside of Louisville it gets?

Crowded. I would wait. You would probably be ok if you came in Saturday night and explored Sunday. But call the hotels ahead. Dont expect to come in and find cheap, open hotels. A holiday inn even as far as Frankfort may charge 300 a night for derby.

This is what I was wondering so we're probably better off waiting until next Monday. Thanks, you've been really helpful.

If you are planning to check out Smithfield, unless you want more than a good bed and breakfast, there are several reasonable hotels in LaGrange: Oldham County Tourism
