So, back to Basketball...

By the way, which professional NBA teams does Louisville generally follow?
I don't think Louisville as a whole really follows any specific team. You see fans from many different teams, but Louisville and Kentucky are more college basketball oriented. From my experience there aren't as many people that follow professional basketball here. People don't get obsessed with it like they do college bball. This is just my opinion though.

That's a bizarre stereotype about Americans that those across the pond seem to enjoy ranting and raving about.

I agree, no strong NBA loyalty in Louisville. Louisville did have a pro team back in the early 1970s, the Kentucky Colonels, who played in the old ABA (of red white & blue basketball fame). When the ABA folded they werent picked up by the NBA and folded, or some such storey.

The college game was always big here, but UofL as a big roundball power was more a product of the 1970s, I think, via Denny Crum building the team. Before that everyone was a UofK fan.

Man, I was hoping for a good basketball thread, but all I get is a disgruntled Hoosier and an English broad talking about guns. I own 5 AK 47's by the way. Or do I?

To answer the question, the Kentucky region and the North Carolina region are the strongest in basketball. I'll include Cincinnati and Bloomington Indiana in my Kentucky region.

As far as an NBA team, I think Louisville could absolutely support one. The trick is getting an NBA team to actually move here.

...they use the term up in Chicago, too, but it's sort of dated. And rude.
