That is such a ridiculous statement. As a Chicago native, I am always saddened by you. The reply by adidasguy was appropriate.

I was gonna ask if it was the same thing as a professional figure skater. He worded it funny.

Styx...so the pick was Lofts of Broadway even though there was some negative postings on the management company. 1 in 4 people will complain when they have a bad experience versus the 1 in 10 who say something when they have a positive experience, thus skewing the overall results. I know the projects are just blocks away but I will not ever be venturing that way. I like that this property is basically about a 3/4 mile walk to the heart of downtown and about a mile walk up Broadway to Baxter then onto to Bardstown from there. The YMCA is only a 15 minute trekk as well, so I am overall psyched to be headed to this place. I got a top floor, corner unit with views that are fantastic-I can even see one of the bridges from my unit. I will add feedback in six months as to what I think about the place then...

I cannot fault you. For the price those places are a steal. Hopefully you got their special where it is under 700 with a city view. I love the floors, the high ceilings, and the IKEA fixtures. I think you will do well there. I cannot recall amenities but believe there are few and you will likely meet friends in the elevators and hallways as I did when I lived in a highrise downtown near 4th street.

. It really is not the most walkable part of downtown though, and I think you will really see that when you get there. But, a bike may be a key player for you there. It will be interesting to see how the Nulu area a few blocks north really develops with a planned permanant farmer's market and new urban grocer. At the same time you are seeing some minor gentrification in Smoketown, to the south of those lofts, further south past the projects.

You will soo be our only downtown rep. Please feel free to comment anytime!

I agree with you that the area is not the most walkable, however, I do not mind walking a mile or so into the heart of downtown or to the waterfront-good exercise! And yes, they are a good value for renting. I am not sure what my long term position here in Louisville will be(you know-the whole gay male professional work scene may dry up in the future), so I wanted to rent from a modest price point and then revaluate perhaps buying in the next year after I know the area better.

You will feel at home in downtown and at the YMCA. I worked there for years in highschool & college. It has good energy. You'll find link minded people there before work, for lunch time workouts, and of course after 5 PM.
