Okay, I've only lived here nearly 9 months and am planning my vegetable garden.

What is a good time to plant? I live in the PRP area and I am planning on planting hot banana peppers, tomatoes, bell peppers, zucchini, and maybe pumpkins.

Thanks!

Look on wave 3 (is she still there? I have been out of the area for some time). There is a lady there by the name of wiche who is the daughter of now deceased fred wiche who was an excelent local garden guide guy.

google around about her, and support local radio and listen to her show on WFPL!
Also, utilize your local bookstores! The staff at Carmichael's would be happy to assist you with a book on local gardening. Don't try this at the chains or they will look at you with a confused look I believe Jeneen Wiche and her deceased father may have written some good local gardening books. While you are at it, buy your garden supplies at your local store.

Louisville, being the hip city she is, is joining the growing movement of urban gardening:

Folks, I cannot emphasis enough the power of google. Use it!

I usually start my hot weather plants in april and cool weather plants in mid-march but not this year... the winter has been so long and bad that I haven't done anything yet

Look in the phone book for the county extension agent in your county.

I do a lot of subtropical plantings (palms, bananas, etc.) and when I went to arborday.org it says we are zone 6/7, and at my house at least, zone 7 is more appropriate. My palm trees, which are hardy enough down to zone 7 have been doing well here, so I think zone 6 may be a little too cold of a zone for our area.
