I am going to visit Churchill downs this summer and I bought tickets to sit in the millionaires row with the chefs table and it says you get a buffet...what does that serve typically?

The ticket was very cheap so I assume it isn't amazing but I wanted to have an idea. It also says they offer samples of desserts...are these extra or apart of the buffet?

Also, is parking expensive and hard to find on non-derby days? Should the women wear hats on non-derby days?

Any info you have would be helpful.

Default Parking

I can only answer one of your questions - parking on non-derby days. On-street parking (free) is easy to get and not that far from Churchill but you do have to consider vehicle safety. Breakins, especially during the summer night-meets have been numerous. Any local police officer will tell you that has been a problem and will be for this year's 'summer night' races. Some ideas would be to not take your best vehicle or just leave it unlocked and already 'cleaned out'.

The buffett on Millionaire's Row is delicious. The times I have eaten there, I remember a fine beef roast, fried chicken, a delicious assortment of vegetables, breads, and deserts. It is a wonderful buffett.

great to hear about the food!

As far as parking---I will be going at 11:30 in the morning...will that make any difference? I don't have any special car >5 year old Honda. Is there any place to park that would be better? I saw on the website something about $5 valet--is that in a better area? I'm going to check out of our hotel the morning before we go so obviously I will have my luggage/gps/etc. in the trunk! Nothing in sight though.

Thanks for the help.

It doesn't matter what time you get there. The farther north and east you can get (in relation to Churchill) the better. Stolen cars is not the problem, it's breakins.
