Any recommendations? I am relocating next month to the area and I have two senior canines who could need medical care. Reasonably priced and good bedside manner always a plus.

It's a bit of a mileage stretch, but since you have two senior dogs, we adore Dr. Tom Rainey. He is the owner of Countryside Animal Hospital on Hwy 53 north of LaGrange. Through Dr. Rainey's skills, and some good luck, our labs typically live to 15 or 16. Dr. Rainey is skilled in accupuncture and our old dogs have thrived with his treatments and diet regimes. FYI: We breed for tender hearted chocolate labs of world championship quality.

I have been here a couple of years and am still looking. I like St. Matthews Animal Clinic, however, when it comes to routine care, there prices are through the roof. I recently took my cat to have two vaccs done and it came to a little under $100....and that did NOT even include an exam. As a matter of fact, my cat never even saw the vet. I have heard good things about Deck Veterinary Clinic but they seem to be near impossible to get into if you actually need an appointment. I have also tried All Pets but was not impressed. It seems to be hard to find a good vet here so I am hoping you will get some better responses than mine!

I'm surprised to hear that you say its hard to find a good vet there. I thought Louisville was supposed to be a pet friendly city.

Its strange, actually, because all-in-all the city is extremely pet friendly. We have the great dog run parks, lots of animal lovers eager to talk to you about pets, and even great places to find healthy treats and whatnot. Not to mention that I could not tell you one person Ive met who doesnt have a pet and the majority of people Ive met take good care of their pets and there are a lot of vets in the area. We even have lots of fun pet-related events throughout the year. I have just had a hard time finding a good, solid vet. There have to be some great ones out there!

Lightbulb Lyndon Animal Clinic

...is on the East End, and has the MOST caring vets, techs, and front desk people you'll ever meet. We've been going there almost 20 years and right now have 2 dogs and 4 cats, so...we're there alot!

We go to Kurt Oliver, but his dad is also one of the vets there.

If you do go there, tell them Dr. John's Fitzroy kitteh sent you!

Goose Creek Animal Clinic 425-4022 (at the corner of Goose Creek and Blossom Lane) . Great Doctor and vet-tech. I think that the rates are reasonable but I have a youngish, healthy dog.
