Hi, I want to send a friend's son a gift certificate to a Lubbock area pizza place, sandwich shop or similar--he's an incoming freshman at Tech, and I thought that would be a nice "congrats!" gift.

What pizza places or similar food delivery or take-out places do Tech students frequent? Any suggestions? Any good local places?

I'm the only Lubbockite here. I recommend One Guy From Italy (I actually just ate there today). It's legitimately good, a Lubbock staple, and right across the street from Tech as well, though I don't think they do sandwiches. Dion's is a good pizza place out of Albuquerque that's nowhere else in Texas and it's right by campus also. Firehouse Subs, Which Wich, and Jimmy Johns are sandwich chains all right there as well.

Thanks for the info!

Between the two pizza places, which will give my friend's son more food for the buck?

They're both reasonably priced. You can get a decent meal for five dollars at each or a large pizza for ten or so dollars, but I suppose One Guy's is slightly better priced. Dion's has subs though.
