One of my first "real" jobs was a bread route in Lubbock. My route took me east of town. Every single morning I got to watch the sun come up over the caprock and break into a billion ribbons of light over the plains. That was nearly 25 years ago but I can still see it in my minds eye like it was yesterday. That year also provided a front row seat to Halley's Comet.

I don't really miss it that much. I never found the people to be that friendly, and the city as a whole just seemed too country and "Apple-Pieish" to me. Then again, I'm from Seattle.

What I do miss about Lubbock is it's infrastructure. So easy to get around in, even though I haven't been there in years and it may have changed.

Recently visited family in Lubbock. I would still consider retiring there.

Lubbock has definitely got something that Seattle doesn't have - plenty of sunshine ! That alone would lead me to choose Lubbock over Seattle as a permanent residence, plus I kinda like that "Apple-Pieish" demeanor of Lubbockites. Now Seattle is a beautiful city and wonderful place to visit - much to see.

Well, comparing Lubbock to Seattle would be like comparing apple pie to wedding cake.
