Since it seems as if several people are interested in moving to Lubbock, I thought I'd mention a pretty good deal as far as real estate goes. The market is completely saturated with homes in the $90-120K range. I've noticed that because of the rise in interest rates, it'd be a good time to assume a loan from an owner. The recent housing boom allowed many people to get into homes very cheaply -- as a result, many homes for sale have low equity. You might find out about a loan assumption for financing. It's easier, cheaper, and often quicker to do.

I own a home that was on the market for 2 days when we bought, but since we now have to sell and move, it's been on the market over a month. I would love for someone to assume the loan - they'd get a 5.5% rate and just pay us the (very low) equity we have! If you know more about this, please let me know. It seems like a really good deal for buyers.

If you haven't sold the house in Lubbock yet, try putting it on homeinlubbock.com. Sounds like a deal someone might like to get a hold of...
