they actually have finished it way ahead of schedule. When i had an apartment close the the mall off of 50th and Slide it was amazing how fast i could get the the TTU parking lot by the United Spirit Arena. I often joked they had built it just for me.... There were a couple of times when i drove to my Grandma's house off of 20th and Canton from that apartment without stopping once ... if i missed the red light at Indiana and then at Flint on 19th, not one stop on that trip.

Considering they've been ahead of schedule, you should be thankful that it's taken just nine years to get the thing finished from I-27 to Loop 289. Yes, it could have been done a little faster, but it also could have been worse if there had been serious delays. Someone once said that the project would take fifteen years to build and that it wouldn't start until 2014. Thanks to persistence and commitment from the city's leaders and transportation gurus to get the push going, Lubbock now has an additional, functional freeway in an important part of town.

The next step now is getting Marsha Sharp extended to Wolfforth. Should be just a few years away.
