There are so many apts popping up around Tech. What is your price range? Also the more people you can live with it will be a lot cheaper. One bed room apts will be a lot more compared to a 3 or 4 br. Just something to consider.

budget is $350 I don't mind roommates as long as we don't have to share a bedroom.

350 is really low but it doesn't hurt to look. You are definitely going to need a roommate for that price though.

350 would be better to rent a house.. A decent apt near Tech at the low end will be 450 with roommates. And almost every apt these days you will have your own bedroom and bathroom lol

If you don't want to bring a car or truck, the climate is mild enough you might be able to get along with a combination of bus, and a scooter. A scooter can get you pretty much where you need to go, as long as its not a long trip out of town. Jobs shouldn't be hard to find. As others have said, the unemployment rate is low, and housing is cheap. You could even work oil field jobs for awhile, and then go to school for awhile. Lots of options. This is a good place to study Petroleum Engineering. Lubbock is a good place to start a career in the oil business. However, I know of several guys who got Mechanical Engineering degrees and started in the oil fields right after graduation. Just be ready to work a lot of hours.

I think I may just get a scooter or motorcycle and rev it so people know I'm close by. I'm also thinking about moving her early August so I'm saving what money I have now to rent a apartment.
