I will be arriving in Lubbock's airport in August and I want to know how to get to the dorms (TTU)! Are there buses that take a path to the university?

Also how do people in Lubbock (that don't have cars) usually move around in the city? Is it expensive?

You will likely need to take a taxi, which will be available at the airport. Moving around Lubbock can be done, not owning a car, but it is not easy.

Citibus is the transportation system, you might try to see if you can find a map of routes to plan your getting around. On campus will be easy, off campus, not quite so. Can be done though, and you certainly aren't the first student without a car!

As a student at Tech, you should be fine going carless. You'll probably make plenty of friends with cars who can give you rides if you're going places that are more than a few blocks off campus. There is a bus system, and it's usable, but it's not exactly convenient. Here's a map of system to give you an idea. http://www.citibus.com/documents/5ea093a41ac0a4b1.pdf

As for getting away from the airport, you'll probably have to use a taxi.

Obviously you're going to need to get around for some shoping, etc. The climates not that harsh in winter, so a bicycle might be a suggested purchase. Buses don't run on Sundays and infrequently on Saturday. Otherwise the bus system can get you around, although I believe they stop running at 6PM. Taxi could then suppliment your transportation needs. You'll need a taxi from the airport. Good luck.
