Hmm. I forgot about this fellow. Ned Sublette was born 1951 at Lubbock and raised at Portales, NM is an author, music composer, musician and record producer.

Don Bowman (August 26, 1937 – June 5, 2013) was born in Lubbock. He was the original host of the radio program called American Country Countdown, a weekly review of the 40 most played country songs across nation. He also co-wrote the the 1974 hit song Wildwood Weed performed by Jim Stafford.

The Cactus Cuties have been featured on The Disney Channel, The Oprah Winfrey Show, Rachael Ray, The 700 Club, The Jerry Lewis Telethon, numerous NBA, MLB, and NFL games as well as military events. In 2008, they performed for President George W. Bush at the White House.

Curtis Peoples graduated from Plainview High School. He helped launch the Crossroads of Music Archive at the Southwest Collection Texas Tech University and is currently the director for the Archive which actively collects materials relating to West Texas music.

Cool video High Plains! Brought back some great memories, although they did not mention The Spoon (although I think it was Sprotts being interviewed in front of their sign), or Abbey Road. I saw tons of shows in those two places I'll admit.
Also cool to see Scott Faris in the vid. Incredible guitarist, and all around really nice guy, at least way back in the day when I knew him.

The Cotton Club looks like it would have been a fun place but it was probably gone by the time I came to the South Plains region in 1968.

Former Lubbockite Delbert McClinton (all of 74 years young and still performing) is doing a big cruise next year. Check this out at this link.
