Hang in there. I moved from Dearborn, MI four years ago. Like you, I had enough of Michigan and wasn't going anywhere. Lubbock attracted me because of Texas Tech University, the cost of living and the job opportunities (I'm in healthcare). I can tell you having worked for the Medical School here, I have seen many healthcare accountant positions come and go in the past few years.

Like everyone else has mentioned, Lubbock is very different. For me it was a better different. I was sick and tired of high cost of living and lack of jobs.

Ever consider Wichita, KS? Hear me out. Rent is cheap. Housing is relatively cheap. What's more...Wichita is in the middle of the state so it doesn't get the extreme winter weather that western KS gets or even eastern KS gets for that matter. We may have 1-2 blizzards a year then the snow is basically gone in less than a few days. We have several universities there. If you're a single guy, you're in luck. Wichita has a very high rate of single women. Not sure if that's a good thing or not since I'm married so what do I know?
