I've been through the area numerous times and never asked locals in Amarillo or Lubbock this question. Which Texas NBA Squad holds the most popularity ? My guess is either San Antonio or Dallas.

All 3 teams have been decent to very good for over 30 years so I imagine rooting interests go back a couple generations atleast. Dallas had some bad years but all 3 teams made deep playoff runs even prior to Houston winning back to back in the mid 90's. Spurs have won the most titles but they were all between Houston's two step and the Dallas one in 2011. I don't imagine Maverick interest outside of DFW was real strong until after 2011 title IMO.

Interesting hearing people's interests given that Dallas and San Antonio are relatively equidistant. I remember guys like George Gervin and Moses Malone in the late 70's and early 80's doing damage. Never understood why Houston gave Malone away to Philly.

I'm pretty sure each Texas team has its share of fans in the Lubbock area, but outside of Texas Tech and college basketball in general, it's hard to say what pro team would garner the most interest there. Even so, I'm not even sure the NBA gets any more viewing there than college basketball does.
