Ok, I posted here a few months ago, I think, about an apartment complex. Well, we are still looking... lol. We are hampered by being 1000 miles away, and needing to work/save money for the actual move.

So, there are a few places we have in mind that I'd like to get some opinions on, if possible.

The Park Tower, or Tower. It has some bad reviews, but most seem workable. Not sure about the area though, even though the building itself seems pretty safe and secure.

Courtyards By The Lake, exterior isn't that awesome, but I'm more into the interior and neighborhood.

Village West, seems like an ok place.

I'm open to any and all other suggestions. We are trying to keep our price around 600. 630 if water is paid. Ideally we'd like either a large one-bedroom, or a 800sqf+ two bedroom.

If you have ANY opinions or suggestions, I'm down to listen!

Whatever you do, do not do Park Tower. The city has to file code violations and goad the owner into fixing basic safety issues, and it's known for some unsavory tenants, as well as a somewhat sketchy neighborhood. The other two are just fine. If you have a school-aged child, go with Courtyards since Williams Elementary has a good reputation. Village West is right in the middle of a neighborhood full of decent apartments right next to the mall and requisite restaurants and shopping centers.

Nearly 30 years ago, a girlfriend lived in these apts. Was not a great part of town then, and still is not.

The reason she moved into them was price, and the size. At the time they were a real nice sized apartment compared to what else was available. I don't know how they compare now.

All that said, it is not a part of town I would want to live in, but if the price is right... check them out!

I just went back and re-read your previous posts. This place is literally around the corner from the Park Towers you were looking at before.
I don't know if you have tried these guys, but they have a number of complexes around town. mcdougalproperties dotcom

Good luck

Yeah, we did some more research on the neighborhood.

I think we've decided on a place though, it's called Southridge Lake down by the 289 loop near Euclid, I think.

Jace,

I live in the complex behind Southridge - very safe neighborhood, but Southridge appears to be in MUCH worse condition and very run down in comparison to Courtyards by the Lake and Village West. I just checked out their pics online and they don't very well represent themselves.

I can scope them out for you this afternoon or tomorrow afternoon if you're still interested - I'm curious about what the units look like on the inside.

You might check out Genoa Gardens - I know they have 1br units for $500 - $575, and they are fairly new/have a good reputation. I don't know if they have what you're looking for, though.

That would be awesome if you checked them out! I had read some bad reviews, but they mostly seemed to deal with the old manager. It looked like things got better when they got a new manager, but the photos on Google are probably 5 years old. The street view ones that is.

I just stopped by and the office was locked, no one answered when I called their number. I'll try again tomorrow afternoon (and I'll probably call first).

As I drove away, I did notice the complex is incredibly secure - you can't access anyone's front door without getting through a gate first.

Yeah, she did tell me that there was a gate of some kind. It's really awesome of you to do this! I'm not sure what she'll have to show, but we are talking about getting a two bedroom.
