Hi everyone,

My daughter came back to her rental house that was robbed over the summer. She's in the Tech Terrace area. I'm going to put an alarm on the house so she feels safe. What alarm company is most used in town?

Thanks so much,

Kay

Sorry to hear about your daughter's loss. I believe I would check with the owner of the house first to see what they could suggest in the way of additional security. Of course Texas laws require only a minimum of security (door and window locks) for rental houses. I always encouraged my renters, both in the lease and verbally, to carry rental insurance before they rented one of my places.

I cannot make any recommendations for security companies in Lubbock. My rentals were in a small town some miles northwest of Lubbock. However, our farm house just a few miles north of Lubbock was burglarized a few years ago in our absence. Here we went to a video system that monitors the house and barns 24/7. Many of the farms and rural places are now doing the same as theft seems to be on the rise all over.

If your daughter is renting the house from someone else, you will probably need the landlord's permission to make any modifications to the property, such as adding an alarm system. I'm not an attorney, but you may wish to consult one.

As far as your daughter's personal safety is concerned, a Ruger LCR chambered in .38 Special will tilt the odds in her favor if, God forbid, someone should try to attack her or burglarize her house again.
