Hi,
Can you tell me if the Lubbock area is humid or dry?
I’m trying to find an area in Texas that is a dryer area.
Is it all humid? I lived in East TX many years ago and know that area is humid.
Thank you.
Patty
Freezing in Maine.

It’s semi-arid with a higher elevation than E. TX (3200 ft). Gets around 19 inches of precipitation annually, vs. 40+ in most areas east of 35/37.

We own a small South Plains farm not far out of Lubbock, my wife is from the area and I have been out here, off and on, for over 50 years. With all the Lubbock area irrigation, the area is more humid than it used to be although we still use a evaporative cooler (a swamp cooler) on most days here at the farm.

I agree on the humidity of east Texas. I grew up in deep east Texas and found summers there to be oppressive even as a teenager.

It won the toughest weather tournament in 2013 so I guess it says something about its extreme conditions:

But when I look at its numbers, it's not that bad.. pretty dry and mild winters. I'd still prefer its climate to, say, Detroit, NYC, or even Seattle any day.
