Location is just west of the Wells Fargo Building (Ave. O), in between Broadway and Main St., about a football field away from Ave. Q. Was a surface parking lot. Think it's the first new hotel to be built in downtown proper since 1982 (currently the MCM Elegante), if I'm not mistaken. (The Staybridge on 19th, the Overton and Hyatt Place on Mac Davis, and the Courtyard and HI Express on the MSF are all very close by, near Tech, and have been put up in the last 20 years. The last four are under a decade old.)

A few weeks ago, I drove by a lot close by that on Q between 10th and Main that had a "financed by . . . " sign on it. My guess is that it's the Avid Hotel, pictured second under "upcoming properties" here.

Forgive me, shoe, but that has to be one of the most bizarre hotel designs I've seen in some time.

Maybe the drawing looks worse than the final product (I hope?)

The Cotton Court Hotel is being developed by the Valencia Group. This is one of a few boutique hotels they have developed in Texas. The hotels focus on local history and culture. The central courtyard is adjacent to a restaurant and club that feature live entertainment.

I'm interested in seeing how this turns out.

This is the latest rendering of the hotel that will be built at the Civic Center, directly south of Buddy Holly Hall.
