Hi y’all. I’m trying to decide between Lubbock and El Paso. I’ve seen a couple of the old threads so I’m leaning more toward Lubbock now. What parts of town are safest for a single woman in Lubbock? Budget isn’t an issue provided the area is safe. Also what’s the dating scene like for an African American woman? Thanks.

I don't know anything about the dating scene, but Lubbock is pretty safe, IMO. If price is not an issue, you might consider renting a house? I've had good luck with Coldwell: https://cblubbockleasing.com/properties/

Thank you so much. I looked at the link, it appears they rent/lease all over the city. I’m trying to figure out which parts of the city to concentrate my search. Thank you.

The safest area of Lubbock is the Southwest side.

I agree with rr2005. Southwest is very safe for a single woman as is West Lubbock. As far as dating its hit or miss sadly, no matter if you are a woman or man. As an African American man with plenty of experience exploring the African American dating scene, it gets downright depressing sometimes lol. I suppose it boils down to if you are outgoing or not. Yet please don't let that discourage you our city is wonderful.

Visit each city. You might learn something that you like or dont like. And yes, SW side of Lubbock is the safest and newest, and probably the most expensive.

Thank you! I have visited Lubbock a couple of times and I can see myself living there, at least for a while.
